Burks’ Scouting Ministries Sunday was a great success. Approximately seventy Scouts and leaders attended the services. Scouts from Pack 3266 and Troop 166 participated in the service and helped with prayer, reading Bible versus, and the Scout Oath and Scout Law.
Following the service, Pack 3266 held its Pinewood Derby. Ninety-five cars were entered in the race and everyone had a great time.
Before the race, Burks Sunday School classes provided food for and helped serve the Scouting families. Thanks for all your help.

Scouts from Pack 3266 and Troop 166 helped with the opening of a local Walmart in our community by leading the Pledge of Allegiance.
The Cub Scouts, their families, and visitors, close to 200 in all, packed the gym for a pot luck Christmas party. They had stations for decorating cookies and crafts and a pingpong game run by the bears. The Scouts received a pinewood derby car as a gift from the pack.
Troop 166 recently participated in Sidney Dew Zombie Ops event. Their Scouting skills paid off, as they managed to survive.
Troop 166 participated in the annual Pumpkin Chunkin and won first place in the Bandit class. They were able to STEM off the other teams by having their trebuchet throw a potato 103′, 11″.
Cub Scouts, parents and siblings packed the gym for the annual Halloween party. The Scouts had a parade showing off their outfits. Some were scary, some were super heroes, and some were uniquely cool. They also decorated cookies with all kinds of sweet stuff, although there was no need for extra sugar! Thanks to those that volunteered to make this happen.
Over 30 Scouts and their families from Pack 3266 have enjoyed Cub and Partner weekends at Skymont Scout Reservation this October. Activities include arts and crafts, BB and archery, hiking and all kinds of other Scouting fun. Depending on the weekend, some even earned their Polar Bear patch – brrrrrr!
Five Order of the Arrow members, two leaders and three Scouts, cooked for 300 Cub Scouts, parents, and siblings this last weekend at Skymont. Thank you for your service.
Troop 166 assisted the Aldersgate Sunday school class and other members of Burks United Methodist Church with preparing shoeboxes for the UMCOR ministry, Christmas Shoe Boxes for Third World Children. Burks is now a hub for collecting shoeboxes and this first year as a hub, collected 370 shoeboxes. Contributions came from Burks and other nearby churches and organizations, including Troop 316 and Pack 3256 from Flintstone United Methodist Church. Burks collects boxes, verifies their content, separates them by boy or girl, packs them into cases, and delivers them to the UM Disaster Warehouse in Decatur, AL. Troop 166 assisted with verifying, and decorating the boxes. For more information on this ministry, visit http://umdisasterwarehouse.com.
Congratulations to those OA members that participated in the Fall Ordeal. Troop 166 had a dozen Scouts and leaders participants. Mr. Jeff Butler became a Brotherhood member and Mr. Robert Wilson became a Vigil member. Congratulations to them and thanks to all for the service performed at Skymont.
